Due to COVID-19 health concerns, PFLAG Cape Girardeau will be hosting their support meetings via Zoom for the remainder of the summer months. Meetings will be held on Sunday, June 21, July 19, and August 16 at 3 p.m. To learn more about how to access these meetings and to stay updated on all the latest LGBTQIA+ happenings in Cape, follow PFLAG Cape Girardeau on Facebook.
Our ministry continues to grow as the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community in southeast Missouri become more evident. CEC hosts programs directly linked to the church, and supports additional events through our open and inclusive environment. Journey and Safe Space Cape are direct components of the CEC's LGBTQIA+ outreach, offering safe, supportive environments for LGBTQIA+ and affirming persons. Journey focuses on supporting individuals as they come to understand their relationship with God as an LGBTQIA+ person. Safe Space Cape is for young persons, elementary through young adulthood. Safe Space offers young people a judgment-free area where they can explore who they are as individuals and express themselves in whatever manner feels right. Other LGBTQIA+ centered groups within the community (like PFLAG Cape Girardeau) also utilize Red Door space for meetings and special events.
