A relatively small group gathers as downtown church bells begin to sound.
It is a service of Word and of the Lord's Table.
Some of us say they like to listen to the birdsong (especially those two mockingbirds), others confess that they just cannot sing. Either way - this is a quiet service. Parents find it almost impossible to get kids washed and dressed by 8 a.m., so we tend to be singles or "empty nesters" at the early service.
We always use our beloved "Book of Common Prayer." Sometimes it is the contemporary ("Rite Two") and sometimes it is the old and venerable language of Tudor England ("Rite One"). It is always reverent.
The Adult Sunday School classes meet immediately following this service, for the convenience of our "Eight O'Clockers." And you can find a pretty good cup of coffee there. And some good conversation. Welcome.
